The news coming from WildFish will have a lasting impact on Windermere if they are successful in court. This is why I am supporting this. This also impacts all of us who care about sewage entering our rivers. They only have 30 days to raise the money

press release

As well as the brief summary below:

WildFish has been given permission to apply for judicial review of the Government’s “Storm Overflows Discharge Reduction Plan” which is:

  • Confusing and contradictory.
  • Fails to deal with the overflows that are causing the problem.
  • Set targets which would allow water companies to continue dumping unacceptable amounts of raw sewage over a prolonged period, in some cases up to 2050.

"We are challenging the Government’s plan to allow water companies to continue to dump raw sewage in our rivers from now to 2050.

We want this plan scrapped. We want the Government to give Ofwat and the EA  the mandate and the money to enforce existing law to compel the water companies to deliver the infrastructure urgently required to end sewage pollution. " Nick Measham, WildFish CEO
