Hello! A lot has happened for us this week and we wanted to give you a quick update of the highlights. Prime Minister Questions: On Wednesday the Istanbul Convention was mentioned by Gavin Newlands MP in a Prime Minister's Question (see link below). Althought the Prime Minister glossed over this reference in her response but we are pleased it has been raised with her again. Government meets deadline but report falls short: Wednesday 1 November marked the deadline for the Government to report on their progress towards ratifying the Istanbul Convention - as required by the law we helped pass in April this year. The Government met the deadline. But the report falls short. There is little new information in the report and critical details are still missing - details that have held up ratification of this life-saving law for over five years. We concerned by this lack of progress and believe more needs to be done to ensure the protection of women and girls from gender-based violence. We do not want to hear the same recycled lines from the last two years. We want a clear picture of what is left for devolved governments to do, and a precise timetable for getting the final pieces in place.
