Hello,
While we await the decision on who our next Prime Minister will be, children around the UK are still struggling to access healthy and nutritious food as the cost of living soars. Write to your MP today and ask them to use their voice to speak up for the 800,000 children living in poverty who do not qualify for free school meals.
Your support for the campaign so far has been incredible. As well as building more than 65,000 signatures on my petition, we’ve also sent 185 emails to MPs — and Mike Amesbury MP even went on to ask a question about this issue in Parliament after his constituents emailed him! This means our campaign is making waves already, and we need to keep piling on the pressure.
Our local MPs have a duty to represent us in Westminster and the more this is raised in Parliament, the harder it will be for the incoming Prime Minister to ignore! If you haven’t already, I’d really appreciate it if you could email your MP about this issue.
The cost of living crisis is set to dominate politics far beyond the leadership contest, with food and energy price rises set to push more and more people into poverty. Our free school meal campaign provides a simple solution for the next Prime Minister.
One person who has signed my petition wrote: “No child should go hungry anywhere in the world. But a rich society like ours has no excuse for not feeding its children. They are our future, and we have a collective responsibility for their wellbeing!”
I couldn't agree more! Thank you so much for your support.
Christina and the Bite Back 2030 team.
