Elizabeth Alker-newman started this petition to UK Government and
Each year, horses are forced to race, causing injuries and sometimes death. On Friday (05/04/2019) 3 horses died at Aintree and since the millennium a total of 13 deaths have been calculated due to this event of the Grand National and these figures are just for one event, out of many races that go ahead each year. Surely, in our ‘animal loving’ country this sort of animal abuse should have been stopped a long time ago and should no longer be acceptable to continue just for the sake of our entertainment. In 2018 at Cheltenham Festival 6 horses died and in 2017 at the same event 4 horses died.
In some cases if the horse is no longer profitable to take part in a race, they are taken to a Abattoir to be slaughtered.

By signing this petition this could come to an end for the animals no longer having to risk their lives for entertainment. This needs to be pushed within parliament and reviewed by the British Horse Racing Authority.
