My life has been turned upside down by the Brexit referendum in which I was not allowed to vote. U.K. nationals living abroad more than 15 years are deprived of their most fundamental democratic rights. I am one of millions of British expats who represent their country abroad with pride. I suddenly find myself with no democratic rights. Why can't I vote? Why should I suddenly lose my fundamental rights because the UK arbitrarily decided that after 15 years as an expat I could no longer vote. It is not right to pick and choose who can vote and who cannot. The U.K. is not fulfilling its duties with me as a UK EU passport holder. We should be tearing down walls not building them!
