The Issue

Please reconsider the Rules for non-EU Spouse of British Citizens wishing to live in the UK with their Husband or Wife and their children.  It is very UNFAIR that only the people on a minimum income of £18,600 per annum or more can have their Spouse to live with them in the UK, but those on a lower income or the minimum wage cannot. It is DISCRIMINATION through and through. Consideration should be given to the fact that most International people are very hardworking citizens and their countries work much longer hours than the UK, and they would want to work in this country to provide for their family living in the UK with them, if only they were given the opportunity.  Why do the Government assume that British Citizens on lower incomes rely on Benefits and that is why you don't want them to have their non-EU Spouse to live with them in this country?  It is a ridiculous assumption and extremely unfair; everyone has a right to live with their Husband or Wife and their children.  All British Citizens in this situation should not have to leave the UK to be able to live with their Spouse.  Where would they all live if every country made things as difficult for them as the UK Government do?  David Cameron professes to support married life and family life, yet my Son-in-Law was told by the Home Office that his English Wife could remain in the UK and care for their Son, and he could go back to his own country.  This is despicable.  David Cameron says we need an Immigration system that is fair; I hardly think this judgement was FAIR; nor is the rule fair to everyone who has a genuine marriage to a non-EU Spouse.  Decisions about residency in the UK with their British Spouse, should be made on the Applicant, including the fact that they would want to work hard here, and should NOT be based on the British Citizen's income.  There are hundreds of people all over the world who are married to someone from a different country to themselves, but only the UK make it difficult for them to live together.  Something needs to be done about it, and also for the Childrens' sake.  Children should not have to be separated from one parent or the other; it is devastating to them and causes extreme anxiety to the Parents.

The subject was aired on "The One Show" just a few weeks ago and they announced that David Cameron had said that the situation needs addressing, but he said it is the EU who need to change the Rules.  Well I have been in correspondence with Brussels and they have told me that it is the UK who need to change their Rules; so whilst ever the UK Government don't seem to understand THEIR responsibility to change things, and not Brussels, this terrible situation will remain unchanged.

There are many couples caught up in this ridiculous rule and it is extremely stressful for them all.

I urge you to remove the lower income barrier so that every Spouse Visa Application can be dealt with FAIRLY, just as you say you want, so that genuine married people can live together as they are entitled to.  It is their Human Right.
