It's a good job that Lovejoy wasn't placed in charge of the Titanic, or she would immediately start rearranging the deck chairs.
Yes, with the DVSA descending ever deeper into chaos and facing a 12-month backlog of L tests, the first priority they've come up with, is to start a trial where the reverse bay park is carried out in public car parks!
As usual they've haven't consulted with ADIs on this, unless we all missed the email?
No doubt they've "consulted" with NASP, but again I don't seem to remember seeing an email from any NASP associations asking for the views of their members on the potential change.
Anyway, with Lovejoy busy "consulting" away, Eric and Tinker have been sent out to tell us why we should all do mock tests, and what a fantastic benefit they are.
We're not sure what's changed as only three weeks ago ADIs hadnt' got a clue what they were doing when it came to assesment.
The DVSA themselves stated:
"Although ADIs are well qualified and proficient in driving and instruction, they are not experienced assessors, and this is evidenced by the current practical test pass rate of 47%"
But wait there's more. If you want to know more about Mock Tests, you can always contact an ORDIT trainer.
Anyone remember ORDIT? The massively discredited register, that when the DVSA changed the joining criteria to Grade A and counted failed attempts at an ORDIT assessment as a failed Standards Check, everyone left?
Don't expect Lovejoy to give you a grant either, the DVSA fat cats sat at home receiving a full salary expect, ADIs on the breadline to start paying out for training! And we're still waiting for them to come clean on the changes to ADI fees that they're secretly consulting away on.
Perhaps an actual agency that was responsible for testing, such as oh I don't know the DVSA maybe? could get its examiners (who are sitting at home on full pay remember) to run some free online training courses itself. That might make up for a 12 almost 12 months wasted of our ADI badges that the DVSA won't refund.
That wouldn't go down to well though, as remember whenever the DVSA launch a new initiative NASP launch a range of courses you can all pay to go on to find out all about it.
We've no doubt that over the next couple of months NASP will roll out a Mock Testing scheme and courses on marking and no doubt how to reverse park in a public car park!
Keep the pressure up by signing the petition for an independent enquiry into the DVSA
