Another day another DVSA U-turn

As predicted yesterday the DVSA have reversed their earlier statements on private practice on essential journeys and it's now allowed again.
Three times in a week they've flip-flopped on this advice, this is the latest U-Turn in an ongoing line of communication errors and bungling that demonstrates that they have absolutely no clue what they are doing.
How much money has been wasted by members of the public cancelling insurance cover because they didn't think it was needed over the lockdown?
How many ADIs have been made to look foolish by giving our learners the constantly changing advice?
While they've been spending a week trying to read regulations which were obvious to everyone else, still no news on what they intend doing for PDIs and the two-year limit on theory tests. NASP we note have finally started to promote an online petition on extending theory certificates.
The petition as usual was started by individuals and nothing to do with NASP, but as usual once assured by their friends in the DVSA it won't be an issue as they won't do anything about it anyway, they jump in at the last minute and try and claim the credit.
You would think as "Your trade association" they'd have been telling members how they'd been "liaising" with the DVSA about extending the certificates from the end of the first lockdown, but they seem strangely quiet.
Perhaps they might like to "liaise" with the DVSA about giving a free extension on ADI badges, as most of us have had at least six months where we've been unable to use the badge we've paid for!
Closures
As we mentioned right at the start of this petition the DVSA is again playing games with test centre closures, this time High Wycombe. We're told they have continually reduced examiners at the test centre leaving only two and are now closing it due to lack of demand. (As no-one can get a test date there as there are only two examiners!) The nearest test centres are 40 minutes away!
You can sign the petition to keep it open here:
https://www.change.org/p/dvsa-save-high-wycombe-driving-test-centre
Although as we all know the DVSA will eventually promise to keep it open and then close it a year later when the publicity has died off.
The DVSA is clearly not a fit and proper organisation to administer either driving tests or the ADI register. Please continue to sign and pass on this petition to your colleagues so that something can be done about it!
