The worm that turned?

With only two working days until the resumption of the training in England, (unless the DVSA change their mind for a third time and decide it's the 3rd of December) and as usual no news from the DVSA on how or if training and testing will be affected in the different tiers.

It seems that two out of the three constituent bodies of NASP are finally briefing against the DVSA in their press releases, after the shambolic DVSA webinar earlier in the week which was then followed up by a promised news release on Friday evening that then didn't happen.

Is it "too little, too late" we ask? or is that actually the point? leave it to the last minute to avoid upsetting the DVSA while making it appear to your paying members you're actually doing something. Wouldn't the correct time to have started pushing for this information have been the start of the lockdown or the announcement of the tier system.

And as 99% of people in England are in the top two tiers, should the DVSA decide to prohibit training and testing, and destroy even more livelihoods and what remains of the industry, we're sure NASP (our industry trade association as we keep being told by the DVSA) will be keeping the DVSAs feet to the fire (figuratively speaking) by holding them to account with the rigor and determination they usually display when overturning DVSA decisions and demanding the details of any actual legal authority - as Driving Instructors aren't mentioned in the legislation - rather than the generic "fit and proper" the DVSA wheel out to threaten anyone who does something they don't like. Well we won't be holding our breath.

While the total lack of support, contradictory information and general incompetence displayed by the DVSA at this time is beyond frustrating, remember all the time it just adds to the weight of evidence for an independent enquiry, which may hopefully result in the total regime change we are aiming for.

Closer to Christmas we'll be advising you on how to take part in our new letter writing campaign to MPs, so that as well as the petition we hope to get as much support in Parliament as possible for the enquiry as well.

In other news the DVSA Chief Executive has jumped ship (perhaps he saw the iceberg coming),so again please help make sure his newly announced replacement is is the final Chief Executive of the DVSA, by signing the petition into an independent enquiry.
