Latest news on the petition for an enquiry into the DVSA

Thank you again to everyone that has signed it's time for the weekly update. We will hit 500 signatures in the next few days which is our first big milestone, considering that unlike the NASP organisations our budget is zero.

Please help: If you see a Facebook post where an ADI is unhappy with the DVSA then please point them towards this petition.

With resumed tests we are seeing several reports from ADIs of tests being refused because of the examiner sees insignificant dust in the vehicle and deems its not clean, (then adding to the backlog because a new test needs to be booked), or examiners cleaning the car with their own wipes and then just dumping them in the vehicle at the end of the test for the ADI to dispose!!!. Should either happen make sure you take photos as additional evidence. 

It seems the DVSA are still trying to destroy the industry, With no news on at least a preliminary date for when tests for new candidates can be booked we are seeing hundreds of reports that potential customers are turning away in droves. Intensive courses have flat lined, (who wants to book a week long course then have a test four months later?) and existing learners are reducing the length and frequency of lessons. One small positive seems to be that brand new starters are unaffected as they are expecting to take 3 to 4 months before they are test ready. 

They have a reported backlog of between 220,000 to 250,000 existing tests in the system and it appears only a small proportion of those have been rebooked, and they will all need to be cleared before new bookings can resume, and there is no plan that we are aware of to recruit even on short term contracts new examiners to help clear the backlog. 

Finally welcome news for our Scottish colleagues who I understand can return from the 24th of August.
