Funeral business with £1.96Billion a year

I just worked out that with a recorded 558,984 deaths in the last recorded year in England, Wales and Scotland ( Irish figures well out of date) and the average funeral at around £3,500 the funeral industry must be worth at least £1.96 billion a year. If austerity is the name of the game for our government then perhaps a wee look at that industry might be in order?
