New developments in the ongoing UBCAccountable letter debacle

Hello everyone, Things were calm in UBCAccountable land until this week, when Margaret Atwood wrote the strange and inaccurate opinion piece "Am I a bad feminist?" At the same time, the following signatures came off the UBCAccountable letter beginning January 12: Madeleine Thien, Lisa Moore, Karen Solie, Michael Helm, Meryn Cadell, Lee Henderson, Sheri Benning, Jonathan Bennett, Rawi Hage, Adam Sol, Mitchell Parry, Sharon Thesen and Jeannette Lynes. Four new signatures have been added. Many thanks to Kim Goldberg for keeping track--follow her on Twitter for accurate updates. I have reopened this petition because I am starting to get requests to sign, again. As always, thank you for signing, and for your support. We don't know why most of these signatories changed their minds (one one has published a statement so far), but I'm glad to see it. We will keep fighting UBCAccountable, especially given the recent events at Soulpepper Theatre, Concordia and in the United States with the #metoo movement and Harvey Weinstein. Solidarity, Julie Rak
