Dear all,

Today a year ago Matt was arbitrarily detained in the UAE and remained in detention, in abhorrent conditions, unjustly accused of a crime he didn’t commit.

Today, thanks to YOUR support and generosity, Matt is a free man and I feel like the luckiest woman to have my husband back with me.

The last five months, since Matt was released haven’t been easy for either of us, as we now battle to heal the wounds that last year left on us. However, because of your help, we’ve been able to embark on the legal pathway towards clearing Matt’s name, and most importantly, setting a precedent of justice to protect other innocent victims of arbitrary imprisonment abroad.

Today, we just want to say MASSIVE THANKS for giving us the greatest gift: Matt’s freedom. 

We promise to continue our fight for freedom of expression and opinion, academic freedom, justice and accountability.
