There is a ballot measure coming up in CA that would increase the tobacco tax on a pack of cigarettes by $2, and add a comparable tax on vapor products. Of course the tax is being touted as a means to prevent youth from starting smoking, but in reality it's money going to insurance companies, medi-cal, and public health groups. If you're in CA, register to vote, and get your friends and family to vote no on 56. If you're not in CA, keep an eye out for what your state is doing.
