There have been 267 different animals species that have been effected by plastic pollution. Each year plastic pollution kills 100,000 marine animals (plastic-pollution.org). Americans go through 100 billion plastic shopping bags each year(need.org). Of those bags most end up in our environment endangering our animals and even ourselves. The rest end up in our landfills where they will not decompose for many years. By banning plastic shopping bags and changing to the recyclable paper alternative we can drastically reduce the amount of plastic pollution and potentially save hundreds of animals and even our planet.
