Congress has called for an investigation via a portion of the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA): https://justice4tedds.com/2016/06/14/tedd-legislation/. While the 2017 NDAA is still pending changes in Congress before going to the President for his signature, it does call for the Secretary of the Air Force to oversee this investigation and report findings to Congress by August 31, 2016. The 2017 NDAA also addresses end-of-service veterinary care for military working dogs, so stay tuned to see how they handle this aspect.
