It has been a long while since I did the last update. Four years ago, my mom was arrested for her spiritual belief and later sentenced to six years in prison. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have lost our contact with my mom since March, 2020. One friend, who was sentenced to four years in prison along with my mom, was set free from prison on July 24th. My father visited the friend and asked her about the internal situations of the prison. The friend said my mom is still under strict control. My mom was not allowed to have any communication with her, or any other Falun Gong practitioners, not even eye contact. But she assured that my mom is doing fine and will return home just like her.

One day before her return, Mr. Mike Pompeo, the Secretary of State, issued the speech “Communist China and the Free World’s Future”. To me, this is an epoch-making speech. Thousands of Chinese people have been waiting for this speech for too long. Now the long wait is over—US finally sees the hard truth: the ultimate goal of CCP (Chinese Communist Party) is global hegemony of Chinese communism. They want to erode the freedoms of the remaining world and subvert the democratic systems. They’re working towards it, and they will never change.

31 years ago, the CCP sent troops slaughtering the students at Tiananmen Square to crack down the pro-democracy movement. Free countries, despite issuing public condemnation, were keeping the “friendly” relationship with the Chinese Communist regime. After the Tiananmen square massacre, economic engagement was quickly resumed and most sanctions were soon lifted. It sent a clear signal to the Chinese leaders: whatever they do, it will be tolerated by the international community.

China’s economy surged for the next three decades, so do CCP’s atrocities. Every tax dollar went into CCP’s pocket, serves as the economy resources for the accelerated repressions on millions of Falun Gong practitioners, Tibetans, and Uyghurs, and for snuffing out of any space for other voices in that society. That’s why the rest of the world were not able to hear the early alarm about the outbreak of Covid-19. Li Wenliang, one of the Wuhan doctor whistleblowers who warned about the novel coronavirus, was called to the police station and reprimanded for “spreading rumors”. He later died of Covid-19.

Now it has become more and more evident that Chinese people would not be the only victims of CCP’s tyranny. We, the people around the world, are all in this together.
