Since 2011 the United Nations has observed June 23 as International Widows Day to draw attention to the voices, experiences, and realities of widowed women. It's an important opportunity to acknowledge and honor widows around the globe.

In the United States, 1 million women become widowed every year. At nearly 12 million, the U.S. widow population surpasses that of New York City, the country’s most populated metropolis. According to the United Nations, there are an estimated 258 million widows around the globe.

This year to celebrate International Widows Day, we'll be hosting events, livestreams, videos, giveaways, and much more on Facebook and Instagram.
We’ll have special activities happening all day long — so mark your calendar and join us Thursday, June 23!
