Hello Widow Supporters- Let's keep sharing our Petition to Advance the Rights of Widows in the United States and Worldwide as we inch closer to 10,000.
We would love to get these 3 official designations to the Presidents Office in 2022:
1. Designate U.S. National Widows' Week of Awareness - Annually, the week after Father’s Day. Father’s Day was inspired by a widower, and this is one way to honor mothers who act in place of fathers.
2. Designate U.S. National Widowers Week of Awareness - Recognized annually, the week after Mother’s Day. Mother’s day was inspired by a widow, and this is one way to honor fathers who act in place of mothers.
3. Recognize International Widows' Day June 23 to coincide with the United Nations https://www.un.org/en/observances/widows-day
If you have connections with the U.S. White House process or constitutes in DC who may assist us with pushing this process forward, please reach out to me at developmentdirector@modernwidowsclub.org
We appreciate all your support here at Change.org and will continue to rally for widows around the world until in the very least, they are recognized as a cause worth recognizing.
Great News:
Carolyn Moor has been invited to London for the June 23, 2022 International Widows Day mega-event hosted by The Loomba Foundation, Lord Raj Loomba, in celebration of their anniversary. Since 2011, the Loomba Foundation has draw attention to the voices and experiences of widows through the United Nations. They made International Widows Day possible. learn more: https://www.un.org/en/observances/widows-day
We hope many #widowadvocates from the U.S. will represent at this auspicious occasion.
"And in the context of COVID-19, widows must not be left out of our work to “build back better”. Let us ensure that our recovery prioritizes their unique needs and supports societies to be more inclusive, resilient and equal for all." - UN International Widows Day website.
We have come a long way in raising awareness for this underserved demographic of women, so let's keep rising in bigger and brighter ways. Share any connections you may have so we can make this big dream a reality.
Stay strong, healthy and proactive,
Carolyn Moor
