America's wild horses and burros need help. The Bureau of Land Management continues to conduct cruel helicopter roundups of these majestic animals - a horrifying form of "population management." To help address this issue and reduce the need for roundups, U.S. Representatives Steve Cohen, Dina Titus, Raul Grijalva, Deb Haaland, Joe Neguse, David Schweikert, Peter King, and David Price have introduced federal legislation (the "Cohen Amendment") to dedicate a portion of BLM's budget toward implementing PZP fertility control. PZP is a humane alternative for managing horse populations on the range that is also more effective.
While many animal organizations have supported the Cohen Amendment, The Humane Society of the United States, Humane Society Legislative Fund & ASPCA - who all publicly claim to support PZP - still have not yet endorsed the amendment.
HSUS, HSLF, and ASPCA must be urged to stop playing politics and do what is RIGHT for horses. Lives are at stake.
