Federal Law to Serve Free Tap Water in Restaurants, Bars and Clubs

The Issue

I was recently at a club in Las Vegas (in a top hotel and casino that makes millions of dollars), and was refused any tap water by the bar. I had just had a couple of alcoholic beverages and paid a decent amount for them, and needed to hydrate myself. The only water they served was a tiny 330ml bottle that was charged at nearly $8. This is outrageous and a rip-off tactic.

Water is our most basic human requirement, and all restaurants, bars and night clubs in the United States (especially any licensed premises) should be required to provide free tap water to their paying customers on request.

It is a healthcare and safety issue too. Millions of young people in particular should be encouraged to stay hydrated, especially if out in a bar or club, and consuming alcohol.
