It looks then as if nine more states: Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia joined the original three, as did Puerto Rico. Ten others (says http://knowledgecenter.csg.org/kc/content/united-states-climate-alliance-us-states-step-fill-void) Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania—and the District of Columbia have also pledged to uphold the terms of the Paris Accord — but not formally joined the alliance.  That website goes on to say: “While U.S. states cannot join the Paris agreement as an official entity, the United Nations provides an avenue—via the United Nation’s Non-State Actor Zone for Climate Action portal—for sub-national governments and companies to declare their climate pledges and participate in the agreement in many of the same ways that nations do. Over 12,500 pledges have already been submitted this way.” So, we have 22 states, DC and Puerto Rico signed on in one way or another. 28 states need persuasion. Nearly 5,000 of you have signed this petition. Perhaps now is the time to write again to your legislature, particularly regarding those 28 states. The next thought is: Is it just lip-service or are states committing any actions or money?
