Response to our petition from Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

This is a very unfortunate incident and is devastating to many in our area and nationally as well.  The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, in conjunction with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and other groups, have worked diligently to restore shore birds and other bird species affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  This incident has raised awareness of the need for conservation and proper treatment of wildlife on our beaches, islands and woodlands.  I certainly hope this is a one time, isolated incident and that publicity from this tragedy will enlighten people and make them more conscious of their interactions with wildlife that share our planet with them.
