We, the American citizens residing in United States and the followers of  Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, strongly oppose the re-entry of His Holiness Abune Zekarias to United States. His Eminence Abune Zekarias is the Ethiopian Archbishop who has been appointed by Ethiopian Orthodox Church as an Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Archdiocese of New York, the Northeast, Southeast, and Central USA since May 31, 2009. His Holiness whose permanent seating is Holy Trinity Ethiopian Orthodox Church New York manages around 33 churches under his Archdiocese.   

During  his appointee, his record showed that His Holiness did not serve us to our  religious ethical standards. Instead, His Eminence  misruled and used the churches mainly to fulfil his personal interest. His Holiness created his own channel with few self-interested clergymen and church members and;  (1) cooperated and ordered the churches he is managing  to transfer  their money to the purposes other than it is originally intended to, (2) used the churches as an employment tool and appointed his own clergymen and left many of our clergymen unemployed, (3) broke and destroyed the Father- Son relationship spirit among church families, (4) collected over 60,000.00( sixty thousands) dollars from the churches he administrates without the knowledge of church members and paid the lost money  back  in Archdiocese where he was in charge when he was in Ethiopia. 

Many of  His Holiness administrative decisions  have created   hostile environment within the church members  that sometimes  lead to endless chaos and unstable peace. Now,  corruption, disputes, fights, and disrespects  are become common problems almost in many Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo  churches. The big chaos and crises in  Debre Selam Medhane Alem Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church of Minnesota, Debre Tsion Kidist Mariam Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church of Atlanta, Georgia, and Debre Genet Kidist Dingil Mariam Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church  of Chicago are some of the examples that prove  His Holiness Abune Zekarias is not good at maintaining peace and harmony among church families. 

His Holiness Abune Zekarias is now in Ethiopia and trying to get an entry visa to the United states. We believe that church is  a place where people should learn peace and love and a clergyman should be in charge and  be a good  example for members as well as neighbors  in maintaining and keeping peace. Hence, we the concerned American citizens and the followers of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church strongly refuse the re-entry of His Holiness  Abune Zekarias to United States for the safety of our churches and  the neighborhoods  where our churches are located.
