Dear Supporters,
On July 17, 2025, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez proposed an amendment to the House Appropriations Committee FY26 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act which was adopted by voice vote:
Gluesenkamp Perez #1 – Directs a comprehensive report on safety risks posed by low beam headlight brightness, particularly across varied terrain.

This is all the information that we have at the moment. Please contact your Representative in Congress to request more details and email us with updates at (info@softlights.org). We want to follow this situation very, very closely and demand that NHTSA (and the FDA) produce a real report that addresses the actual issues with LED headlights (unlimited luminance, blue wavelength light, pulse width modulation).
Sincerely,
