Dear Supporters,

The Soft Lights Foundation sent a letter to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requesting that NHTSA comply with 21 U.S.C. 360ii(a) and cooperate and liaise with the US Food and Drug Administration to publish performance standards to limit the emissions of and exposure of people to, unnecessary Visible Light radiation from Light Emitting Diodes used in automotive lighting.

Letter to NHTSA: (https://www.softlights.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Compliance-with-21-USC-360ii.pdf)

Examples of 'unnecessary' Visible Light radiation include excessively intense LED headlights that blind oncoming drivers, LED flashing lights that impair our vision and cognitive abilities, and using blue wavelength light that causes dangerous glare when yellow wavelength light is the safest choice.

Sincerely,

Mark Baker
