Dear Supporters,
After years of effort, we know exactly who is in charge and what needs to be done to solve the LED headlight crisis. The starting point is regulation of LED products. This is done by the US Food and Drug Administration. However, FDA Director Jeffrey Shuren has made a calculated decision to not regulate the visible radiation emitted by LEDs. Mr. Shuren refuses to approve our petition to the FDA to regulate LED products, and is even refusing to comply with our FOIA request. Therefore, I wrote the letter below to US Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra (xavier.becerra@hhs.gov). You can help by also writing to Mr. Becerra, calling HHS, or calling your Congressperson and asking, “Why aren’t LED products regulated?”

Dear Xavier Becerra, Secretary, Health and Human Services,
Last night I was in Sacramento, California and the city was awash in radiation from Light Emitting Diodes. This hazardous radiation is putting our health at risk, greatly increasing risk of cancer, mood disorders, virus transmission, seizures, migraines, and eye injury.
For the past 13 years, Jeffrey Shuren has been the director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health. It was Mr. Shuren’s job to protect Americans from this radiation. Instead, Mr. Shuren made and continues to make the disastrous decision to not regulate LED products. Even after I submitted a formal petition on June 12, 2022 to Mr. Shuren to compel him to regulate LED products, Mr. Shuren refuses to approve my petition. Even when I filed a FOIA to learn why Mr. Shuren will not regulate LED radiation, Mr. Shuren has made the decision not to comply with the FOIA.
I have requested a meeting with FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, who informed me that he will not meet with me. I have requested help from Rochelle Walensky, Director of the Center for Disease Control. Ms. Walensky told me that a staff member would investigate, and then nothing happened.
I am thus requesting your immediate help. I want to know why Americans are being sickened by unnatural, unregulated radiation from LEDs and why Mr. Shuren is failing his duty of care to protect us from this radiation. I have copied staff member Kevin Wu from Oregon Senator Ron Wyden’s office because I have also requested help from Senator Wyden. I have alerted President Biden as well.
