Dear Supporters,

Thanks to you, this petition has reached 40,000 signatures.  I have downloaded your comments and submitted them to General Motors, Ford, Stellantis, NHTSA, the FDA, Consumer Reports, and Nationwide Insurance, among others.  Below is the letter I wrote to all of them.
--------------
Dear Mary Barra, CEO, General Motors,

Your company has a problem.  General Motors is producing and selling vehicles with unregulated, unapproved, hazardous, and dangerous LED headlights.  Because GM has failed to comply with the Administrative Procedure Act of 1946 and petition NHTSA and the FDA for approval to use directed energy, flat surface LED chips to produce light as the source for LED headlamps, there are no regulations for such LED headlights.

Regulations would include restrictions on peak luminance, requirements that the light disperse gently, severe limitations on 450nm blue wavelength light, and prohibitions on flicker and pulse width modulation.  Both NHTSA and the FDA have failed to publish regulations for LED headlights.  NHTSA has failed to hold GM accountable, and has allowed these non-compliant, dangerous vehicles to be sold.

As a result of GM's negligence, over 40,000 people have signed a petition to NHTSA to ban blinding LED headlights.  The number of signatures on this petition will continue to grow.  The number will never go down.  Citizens will continue to sign this petition and leave their comments until GM, NHTSA and the FDA stop selling vehicles that emit dangerous directed energy visible radiation from tiny flat surface LED chips.

Here are a few of the most recent comments posted on the petition:

As you can read, the citizens hate these blinding LED headlights that put their lives at risk and are recommending lawsuits.  Eye damage from blue wavelength light is permanent and cumulative.  The Soft Lights Foundation will certainly support any lawsuit against GM because we have been notifying GM for several years about this issue (we even have a case ID: 9-9265408744), and yet GM has taken no action to stop using LED headlights.  GM's actions are negligent.  The GM ignition switch debacle was just a tiny hiccup compared to GM's continued use of unvetted, unapproved, unregulated, non-compliant, dangerous, hazardous, and discriminatory LED headlights.

Sincerely,

Mark Baker
