Yesterday we held bold actions across the state of Florida, marching through the streets of 5 major cities to demand that our government and corporations prioritize people and our planet over their profits.
In Miami, we arrived at Senator Bill Nelson’s office during his office hours to deliver our 85,000+ signatures to him. However, it was mysteriously closed, perhaps because they knew we were coming.
During the action outside Senator Nelson’s office and the Wells Fargo bank, I took a moment to speak. “We see large corporations that are buying our politicians, and they are poisoning our water and our politics. This pipeline should never have been permitted. The permitting was flawed, scandalous, and we’re saying no.”
You can watch the entire video of me speaking at Miami’s action here: http://bit.ly/2hCJnvU.
Later in the day, we held another big rally and march through the streets of Fort Lauderdale. And there were other demonstrations against the Sabal Trail Pipeline in Orlando, Jacksonville, and St. Petersburg. Everywhere, people are waking up to the enormous environmental dangers from pipelines carrying oil and fracked gas so close to our rivers, sinkholes, and aquifers. Everywhere, people are demanding a new economy based on alternative and sustainable energy, such as solar power for the Sunshine State!
Thank you for supporting this campaign and please spread the word. The fight against the Sabal Trail pipeline is now the front line in the battle to protect life and safeguard our water and people from the forces of greed and corruption.
In solidarity,
Tim
