It’s taken a while, but OFGEM have now issued an options paper for reducing standing charges. Disappointingly their options seem to be around reducing a maximum of one third. So for example my electricity standing charges are 65p per day. If they did the max they are proposing the standing charge might reduce to 43p per day. Still way too high. They have a survey/ feedback you can complete too. Closing date is September 20th 2024. Every response counts and is important, so if you can please respond. Green new deal have a prepared response, but personally I consider it a very poor response. If you want to take a look go here,

I strongly feel that all standing charges should be removed and spread across the unit price.
