“The top chicken producer in the US, Tyson Foods, [is] responsible for killing an estimated 37 million chickens each week. (That staggering number doesn’t even include the millions of cows, pigs, and other farmed animals that are simultaneously slaughtered by Tyson.)” Do you find this statistic startling and disturbing? If so, join us in commenting on Tyson’s latest Facebook post. You can use the following example as inspiration for your own message urging the meat giant to do better for the billions of animals suffering in its supply chains:
More than 500,000 chickens are BOILED ALIVE every year due to live-shackle slaughter! It’s time for @TysonFoods to phase out this cruel, outdated practice in ALL of your facilities. https://www.commondreams.org/views/2020/10/26/half-million-chickens-will-be-boiled-alive-year
If you’d like to take another action or aren’t on social media, you can also call or text Tyson’s customer service at 1-800-233-6332 to let them know you want Tyson’s leadership to adopt meaningful animal welfare policies, like the Better Chicken Commitment.
