Hello,

According to Investigate Midwest, there have been at least 10,800 reported positive COVID-19 cases tied to meatpacking facilities and at least 45 reported worker deaths after contracting COVID-19. Despite these upsetting and rapidly growing numbers, the industry continues to claim that they are doing all the can to protect their workers.

In fact, John Tyson, the chairman of Tyson Foods, recently released a full-page ad in the Washington Post and New York Times in a desperate attempt to get sympathy from the American public and redirect consumers' attention away from the the thousands of sick workers and the millions of animals being brutally killed on Tyson’s watch. President Trump later issued an executive order requiring that meat processing plants stay open, likely in response to the cries for help from major meatpacking companies.

All of this is a blatant injustice for those who are suffering most—the plant workers and the animals. Join us in holding Tyson accountable by taking the following quick actions.

Dear Mr. Tyson,

I couldn’t agree more with your chairman, John Tyson, when he said “our food system is broken”. It is broken. But we disagree about one important part of your narrative: COVID-19 didn’t break the food system, Tyson did. Tyson has been prioritizing profit over responsibility for far too long, jeopardizing the safety of its workers, its animals, and public health.

Several Tyson workers have died and thousands have been infected with COVID-19 because your team failed to adequately protect them. Millions of animals are being brutally killed because our current food system is fragile and unsustainable.

As a member of Tyson’s leadership team, you have an opportunity to do the right thing. Please stop neglecting your workers, your animals, and public health. It’s time to take action, John!

Sincerely,
[NAME]
