Petition updateReform the Isle of Man’s abortion laws and give women a real choice

Thank you! CALM petition presented to Isle of Man Chief Minister Howard Quayle

CALM - The Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation
Nov 16, 2017
Hello - and thanks again for your support of our campaign to reform the abortion law in the Isle of Man. Of the 2,795 signatures, over 70% gave Isle of Man addresses - a terrific achievement which gives weight to our argument, that reform of the law has strong support and is long overdue. The fact that many of you live elsewhere is also important - it shows that our campaign is being watched and monitored by pro-choice supporters in the UK, in Europe, in the USA and in many other countries. Abortion care is part of reproductive healthcare. This morning the petition you signed was presented to the Hon. Howard Quayle, MHK, Chief Minister outside Government Offices where representatives of CALM talked to him about our campaign. He was sympathetic to our aims, and believes that the Island's Abortion Reform Bill, soon to be presented to Tynwald, will be adopted as law. This Bill is due to be presented for its first reading in the next few weeks but we know that it isn't a 'done deal' and will continue to lobby the Isle of Man's politicians until it is. Please continue to support CALM, either on Facebook (calmiom), twitter (@calmiom) or via our website (www.calmiom.org) and thanks once again for supporting the Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation. from everyone at CALM
