We wanted to send a quick note that there is an upcoming election in Tustin for Mayor. The intent of this update is not to be political, but to inform this community that there is a choice between Austin Lumbard and Becky Gomez on the ballot. Who you vote for or support beyond this we have no opinion on.
Becky Gomez was the Mayor Pro Tem at the time and made the motion to put the homeless shelter next to Heritage Elementary School and across from Veterans Sports Park (directly across the street from the children's tot park and splash pad).
She refused to meet with the community and only with all of your support were we able to overturn the decision in spite of Becky; not because of Becky. She refused to meet with the community; answer phone calls or emails; to compromise in any way, shape, or form. She has been arrogant in thinking that she alone knows best for our children and that we as residents and parents of Tustin don't know what's best.
Austin on the other hand supported our efforts and has children that attend Heritage Elementary. He knows that it wasn't the right spot for the homeless shelter, and worked with us to find a suitable spot that worked for everyone.
For us, the choice is simple in who to vote for as Mayor of Tustin: Austin Lumbard.
