Protect Our Kids At Tustin Legacy Update

Thank you to everyone for your continued support. Heading into the weekend we wanted to share a few updates with everyone:
1. The City Council has released their agenda for the meeting on Tuesday, November 6th at 7:00 pm. Item 10 relates to the city placing a homeless shelter 500 feet from Heritage Elementary and directly across the street from a toddler splash pad and park.
The staff has provided the city council with the explicit option for the council to vote for an alternate location. We need to highly encourage the city council to vote for that option.
Please spend a few minutes this weekend to contact Tustin City Council members and encourage them to vote for the alternate location:

Send them a message on Facebook. Leave a voicemail. Send them an email. Ensure that your voice is heard. They now have an option on the table to seek an alternate location. We need to ensure that they choose that option. Thank you to Austin Lumbard for providing us with the documents that you see attached.
2. We also learned today that the Tustin community were not the only ones left in the dark by the City of Tustin's rash decisions:
- Tustin school administration was not informed at either the district nor local (Heritage) level.
- Many at City Hall were not informed.
- Tustin Planning Commission was never consulted.
- Two former Mayors of Tustin (Jerry Amante and Douglas Davert) also oppose this location.
The full letter outlining these details was sent to City Manager Jeff Parker and is available on Nextdoor and Facebook.
3. The press has taken a great interest in our fight to protect our kids. In addition to our story on NBC4 which ran multiple times yesterday, we have an upcoming article in OC Register and have had members of the community interviewed on KFI AM 640.
4. We've started a Go Fund Me page at: https://www.gofundme.com/protect-our-kids-at-tustin-legacy Donations are completely optional but several of you have inquired about how to help. We'll use the donations for flyers, signs, advertising, legal options (if we get to it), PR, etc. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible with the funds when all is said and done.
5. We're close to 1,200+ signatures on Change.org. To think this entire initiative has only been around for about a week. We want to thank each and every one of you for your support.
Have a great weekend and thank you for your continued support!
