Update on Dinu Lipatti petition

When starting this petition just over a week ago, it seemed unthinkable that it would ever be 'TRENDING'. Well, today it officially is... thank you. In the mean time, I've sent over 100 letters and emails to influential people, politicians, magazines, musicians - even bankers - telling them about the petition and the enormous wave of support it has received. I've even had a few replies, which lead me to hope the message is sinking in. Last time I mentioned I was compiling a second Open Letter to the Romanian Minister of Culture signed by the international community; the signatures are still pouring in, including the support of such musical giants as Radu Lupu, Leif Ove Andsnes, Stephen Hough... If you are a musician or in the industry and would like to add your name to this august list, please email me at orlando.murrin@gmail.com as soon as possible. A friend of mine in Bucharest is keeping an eye on 12 Bvd Lascar Catargiu, and I'm relieved to say, the house is still standing. Lipatti's brother Valentin wrote that when the family lived there, the garden was full of red flowers, including lilies. Be nice to restore it to its glory. If you've any musical friends who haven't yet seen the petition (!) please forward it to them. They may also enjoy Dinu's dazzling performance of Alborada del Gracioso, which is said to be the only recording with which the pianist was 100% happy. In over 60 years it hasn't been matched.
