Stop the Solar Array at The Sea Ranch Airport

Stop the Solar Array at The Sea Ranch Airport
The Issue
The Sea Ranch Solar Array Task Force - in cooperation with the planning committee is planning to propose placement of a LARGE solar array on COMMONS land along Timber Ridge Road in clear view of several properties and all who walk the trail along Timber Ridge Road near the airstip.
This will reduce property values in the area, with a large and unsightly installation that belongs at an industrial facility, NOT at TSR in plain view.
The Guiding Principles of the TSR Solar Task Force include:
* Be sensitive to the design esthetic of the association and members
* Benefit all members equally
In the case of Sea Ranchers who live in the area, these principles are not being followed.
The FAA specifically provides guidance AGAINST such arrays as they can cause problems for landing pilots. More info here: FAA Guidance on Solar Panels
The property owners in the area purchased their properties with the understanding that the TSR airstrip would remain an airstrip surrounded by bucolic commons - not an industrial power generation facility.
We demand the planning commission scrap this proposed location and find a more appropriate location for a solar array or skip it entirely. Such an industrial scale power generation facility belongs out of sight of ANY TSR homes.
There are many locations on TSR that are fully out of view of homes and will not affect property values.
It should be noted that the photo above (provided by Kim Park) is extremely misleading. Numerous trees shown on the photo between the array and Timber Ridge Road no longer exist. They have been clear-cut to stumps. Presumably to make way for this exact project.
We ask fellow Sea Ranchers to imagine a solar array was being planned on commons directly in front of their homes. How would that make you feel?
Thank you for your consideration in this matter, as it is life-changing for our small family.
