A massive Trump Tower Hotel is being built in Vancouver. That's fine, but I think we should send a message about how Vancouver feels about such a significant Arthur Erickson designed building being named after a guy with such appalling views.

Just as NBC Television promptly dumped Trump from their network following his hateful comments about Mexican immigrants, Vancouver should reject his name being associated with such a prominent building.

Donald Trump represents the worst of our American friends to the south.  His racist and hateful speeches, his misogyny, his hypocrisy, are all things we should be rejecting, especially when Mr. Trump is garnering such media attention by way of his presidential ambitions.  Maintaining the brand in Vancouver, in such a high profile location, effectively whitewashes everything appalling that Trump represents.  Let's show how we feel about this in Vancouver.

Furthermore, in Britain, the word trump is a euphemism for farting.  Not uncommon to hear a Brit ask, "hey, who trumped", just as you or I might ask "who cut the cheese?"  Do you want British tourists giggling constantly every time someone mentions the Trump hotel?  It will get annoying.

It's a free country and they can call their hotel anything they want, but we can try to shame the people responsible into reconsidering that decision if they understand the depth of feeling here in Vancouver. 

"Hey, come stay in our hotel named after a guy who calls Mexican immigrants rapists.  It's right here in Vancouver.  You'll love it!"  That could be the moniker for Trump Vancouver.  Or, "Hey Brits, come stay at Fart Towers!"  Feel free to use either, or consider taking that name off your hotel.  We the undersigned prefer the latter.
