I am proud to announce that we now have over 10,000 supporters of the Trucker Gun Bill called "Mike's Law" who have signed our petition. Thank you for being one of them... The Honorable Senator Marco Rubio has stepped up and has pledged to introduce this bill in the U.S. Senate (He is running for president now so you might consider supporting him by sending in a few bucks as a "thank you" using this form--ignore the big amounts and just put the amount you want to donate under "other" http://freightbrokertraining.vpweb.com/upload/1104LambRubio%20for%20President%20Donor%20Form%20-%20TNT.pdf We now need each of you to do just ONE MORE THING and please send the form letter below to your member of Congress so we can get this bill introduced in Congress. Please look up your elected representative in Congress here http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/ ...and then send the form letter below to them. This is our last step... Date: _________________ The Honorable ___________________________________ United States House of Representatives ________________________________ Washington, DC _______ Dear Representative _______________: My name is _______________________________________ and I reside at _________________________________________________________________ which, as you know, is within your Congressional District. I am writing to you as my elected representative in the U.S. House of Representatives to request that you please consider sponsoring new gun rights legislation grounded in the Second Amendment and the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution being proposed by the Small Business in Transportation Coalition (“SBTC”). The SBTC’s bill is entitled "The Americans Working in Interstate Commerce Protection Act," commonly referred to as "Mike's Law." The text of "Mike's Law" is published by the SBTC online at: http://www.MikesGunBill.org). This bill was named after the late Michael Boeglin, an interstate trucker who lived with his wife, Ashley Boeglin, in the “heartland” of America until he was tragically murdered while resting in his truck in Detroit on June 26, 2014. I understand the SBTC has already filed with your office its petition which asks for "Mike's Law" to be passed by Congress and bears the signatures of 10,000 Americans. According to U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics data, more than 500 Americans working in the transportation industry alone have been murdered over the past decade. This statistic strictly represents intentionally-inflicted deaths, not accidental deaths, such as those resulting from traffic incidents. I just wanted you to know that I firmly believe that all Americans should have the right to defend themselves when confronted by criminal and unlawful use of deadly physical force, especially those who do not have the ability to safely return home each night to the families they are working hard to support. Sadly, some states currently deny workers in interstate commerce their Constitutional right to “equal protection of the laws” guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment. I therefore believe Congress must act to ensure this Constitutional right is upheld and no longer infringed on by anti-gun states. As my Congressional Representative, I ask you to please be our champion for this cause by becoming a lead sponsor of “Mike’s Law” in the House of Representatives so that Ashley Boeglin may have some comfort knowing that Mike did not die in vain; so we can afford our nation’s citizens who work in interstate commerce the opportunity to defend themselves when attacked, and avoid future incidents, losses and tragedies. Please be advised that the Honorable Senator Marco Rubio has pledged to sponsor and introduce this proposed legislation in the U.S. Senate. I am very hopeful that you, as my elected representative in the House of Representatives, will do the same. Sincerely, ________________________________
