Petition updateStop covering up sexual assaultsBreaking: TripAdvisor's new changes are not enough

Our pressure is working! Today TripAdvisor rolled out some changes in response to our demands – a step in the right direction but not enough.

Tomorrow we’re turning up the heat and delivering almost half a million signatures asking TripAdvisor to make their platform a safe place for survivors to warn other travelers about sexual assault.

In a blog post today, TripAdvisor announced a feature which will allow travelers to filter for reviews that mention safety concerns (such as sexual assault) at a given business. However it still relies on survivors leaving public, first-hand reviews of their assault, which is re-traumatizing and can be a serious safety risk for people like me.

TripAdvisor’s changes do not provide a safe method for survivors to report their experiences to other travelers.

We want a commitment from the company that they plan to roll out a hotline or support center to help survivors post verified but anonymous reviews on the site when they relate to serious safety concerns. Until we get that, the campaign continues.

If you’re in New York tomorrow, please join us outside of TripAdvisor’s office.
