NO to Sprint bus lanes

NO to Sprint bus lanes
The Issue
Calling all residents of the A34 Walsall Road, surrounding roads and visitors!!!
We, the A34 Safety Action Group, urge you to sign this petition to object to the proposals made by the West Midlands Combined Authority and Travel West Midlands for a designated bus lane to faciliate articulated (bendy) buses along the A34 from the Scott Arms junction along the Walsall Road towards the Perry Barr fly-over to aide travel during the short period of the Common Wealth Games.
The plans will means that we, as residents, will lose our hard shoulder / service lane (and all road users will lose the turning facility at Tower Hill) which we believe will result in the following negative outcomes;
- Create a less safe environment for all road users
- Disadvantage vulnerable residents (who rely on visits from medical staff / carers / ambulances)
- Displace a large number of vehicle increasing parking on side roads
- Create congestion and delay for anyone trying to access the A34 for their journeys
- Create massive disruption when there is already a fit for purpose bus service in place via the X51
- Increase air polution and noise by placing a bus lane immediately outside to houses on the proposed route
- Have an adverse impact upon property prices
In our opinion it would be a significant waste of public money when it would be better spent dealing with traffic congestion at the Scott Arms junction which would speed up travel for all people utilising the Walsall Road.
We are aware that many residents / members of our community were unaware of the public consultation and therefore did not have an opportunity to have their say - we ask you to express your objection here.
Thank you
