Dear supporters,
Transport for London announced today that the much-loved Paolozzi murals will be saved.
The escalator arches will be taken to Paolozzi’s native Edinburgh for restoration by students at the Edinburgh College of Art before going on public display. The large mural at the Oxford Street entrance will be remounted elsewhere in the new station.
There is still confusion over how much of the remaining murals in Tottenham Court Road are original rather than recreations, and it's a shame that Londoners will no longer be able to enjoy the stunning arches each day. However, thanks in no small part to your signatures, at least they are no longer destined for the skip!
Many thanks,
Etan Smallman
