Quick newsflash:
I have been told by TFL that it has now 'ring-fenced' £1.4m of funds to complete the Phase 2 safety changes at the Battersea Bridge/Cheyne Walk junction.
This means that Phase 2 is a 'funded scheme' and action WILL happen. I expect diggers in the ground by summer next year (latest, autumn). To think that all this has happened since our campaign started in January 2021 is little short of sensational.
A formal announcement will go out from TFL next week to the press and the public. I thought it was important that the supporters of this petition should be the first to know.
A full public consultation will be opened in the coming days/weeks and will run until the middle of January. It will be vital that EVERYONE engages with the consultation, not least because there are elements in Phase 2 that need serious consideration. Nearly all local stakeholders, residents, and RBKC officers are opposed to certain aspects.
I will keep everyone informed regarding the links and the consultation process as soon as I get the information. (RM: 23/11/22)
