Response from House of Commons

I recently received a letter from my local MP/the house of commons which had attached a response from Vernon Everitt, the managing director of customers, communication and technology. In short, the response summarised that the best they can do is to freeze fares as they provide free bus travel for our age range (16-17) already. The letter states "we have worked hard to ensure that students and young people in London are able to make the essential journeys they need to get them to their place of study or work" yet there have been a few occasions where I simply have not had the money to get to school as the fares are so expensive. Later he goes to explain that "there are no current plans to introduce further discounts" due to the "limited funding" they have. But I do not understand why the elderly can have free travel for tube and bus when they are not working and children/teenagers cannot have free tube fares when they are simply trying to get to school and receive and education.
