Many people in Islington enjoy cycling but don't have room to store a bike in their flat. Cycling is a healthy and cheap way to get around. Journeys can be made for as little as £1 per day, which is cheaper than any other form of public transport. Bike theft is common in Islington, but this scheme enables people to cycle without worrying about their bike being stolen or dealing with the maintenance issues. It means that people can take the bike for one leg of their journey and continue on another form of transport without worrying about getting a bike home. Many people take up cycling after trying it out on these bikes. The scheme has now been extended to Tower Hamlets and we would like throughout Islington too!

Currently the scheme only operates in the areas of Islington in Zone 1 (mainly Clerkenwell and Bunhill) Liberal Democrat councillors are taking a motion to the Islington Council meeting on 26th June urging the Executive to work with Transport for London to roll out the scheme to the rest of the borough as soon as possible.
