The Woodlands Township voters against extending Woodlands Parkway to HWY 249! County Judge Doyal and Commissioner Riley have added extending Gosling Rd north of 242 alongside Jones Forest and Branch Crossing north of Research Forest as new alternative thoroughfare's to I-45. They have been asked to remove these roads and the Woodlands Parkway Extension from the Montgomery County Thoroughfare plan and both have recently said they would not regardless of our petition and votes.
The folks behind all these major thoroughfares don't want local elected officials in office to fight against their plans. We need to elect folks committed to the people and not special interest groups. Mark Keogh for County Judge and Greg Parker for Commissioner Precinct 2 have committed to listening to the desires of their future constituents and return the power to the people who live here. Both have committed to stopping these projects once elected.
There is an article that attempts to confuse the issue and these folks position. They have both clarified they do not support using tax payer funds to connect developer owned parcels to The Woodlands nor do they support the Branch Crossing or Gosling Rd Extensions. The developers from Dobbin Huffsmith to HWY249 have always had the right to fund their own roads through their developments. Those roads would dead end at Dobbin Huffsmith and not directly connect to TW. The extension piece is where the County through eminent domain creates a county funded road to connect from Dobbin Huffsmith to Woodlands Parkway. Currently Commissioner Riley has stated he would not connect to Woodlands Parkway but would shift that road south 1/4 of a mile to Mansions Dr.
Together we beat them at the polls during the bond election and we will need to come together again if you want local representatives willing to stand up for our community.
They want to put several major thoroughfares through the heart of The Woodlands and if we allow this to happen our community will never be the same. It is election time and I urge you to look at the candidates willing to represent you and your family.
I also understand not everyone who signed this petition is a Republican nor a supporter of the folks above. It is important to acknowledge the best way to stop these thoroughfares is to remove the folks in office from constructing them against your will.
The petition remains the same and is committed to doing all we can to keep these roads from being constructed.
