We urge the Township of Woolwich and the WCDSB to build the new school on undeveloped land not on the green space of Breslau Memorial Park.

The Township of Woolwich and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board have announced a proposal to partner together to build a new catholic school adjacent to the Breslau Community Centre. We oppose the proposed location and urge you to consider using undeveloped land only a few hundred metres away. Building a school on the green space in Breslau Memorial Park will increase traffic on subdivision roadways, limit access to park and playground during school hours, limit future expansion of Breslau recreation programs, and reduce parkland green space in our rapidly expanding community.
We are a booming and vibrant community and the proposed location is not empty unused space. This space is used by members of the community for a variety active lifestyle activities and as we grow we will need more green space not less. Build the school in a new undeveloped location so that new home owners can choose to live close to this institution as opposed to those who chose to live adjacent to green space and a park.
The proposal to link the new school to a new public library can still be accomplished in a different location. We welcome the cooperation between the township and the school board. We look forward to developing our community together.
We oppose the building of a school in this location.
