Kingsbury Pond Update 2026 - We Need Your Help Again

Kingsbury Pond Residents
Apr 9, 2026

Hi everyone,

Nearly 10 years ago, almost 800 of you came together to support Kingsbury Pond. Because of that effort, we raised awareness and brought attention to an issue that deeply affects our community.

Unfortunately, not much has changed — and in many ways, things have gotten worse.

As of this spring, water levels in Kingsbury Pond are some of the lowest we’ve seen, even during what should be the peak recharge season. If levels are this low now, it raises serious concerns about what conditions will look like later this summer.

At the same time, the Town of Franklin is currently requesting approval from the Massachusetts DEP to continue — and potentially increase — groundwater pumping from the same wells that studies have shown impact the pond.

This means we are at a critical moment.

We need to come together again — not just to raise awareness, but to make sure our voices are heard during the upcoming state review process.

To help organize and keep everyone informed, we’ve created a new Facebook group where we can share updates, discuss next steps, and coordinate efforts as a community:

If you care about Kingsbury Pond — whether for its natural beauty, wildlife, or the role it plays in our community — please join the group and stay involved.

Together, we can make a difference.

Thank you again for your support.
