This morning, I recieved a call from the Berryville town offices. I had called yesterday to find out when town meetings are held and to see what the protocol was for speaking at one of these meetings. I was told the public hearing on the McDonalds will be on January 4th at 7pm, at the Berryville Goverment Center, and anyone is allowed to join, so please come show your interest and support. What is interesting is I hadn't mentioned that I wanted to talk about the McDonalds restaurant in my message, so the town office must have caught wind of our efforts, and I have been invited to meet with a representative of the town on the subject. She forwarded me Section 610 of the Berryville Zoning Ordinance in an email, and this is more than just a McDonalds. The town is looking into a complete Commerical Business District, and this would not only invite fast food in, but also other big box retailers, which will rip business from our family owned, local restaurants and shops, and fuel corporate takeover of America. Because of this, we have to act harder on this than before, if it were only one fast food restaurant. Thank you all so much for the ongoing support- over 150 signatures and counting!
