Free the Tower of London ravens

The 'Historic Royal Palaces' website claims, "Legend says that the kingdom and the Tower will fall if the six resident ravens ever leave...Charles II...insisted that the ravens...should be protected...having one wing trimmed."

However, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) admonishes that, "Unnecessary & Unkind...Feather clipping limits or completely eliminates birds’ ability to fly, making them unable to escape from predators...Birds are meant to fly and be with others of their own kind...Clipping is done for human convenience, not for the bird’s well-being. It prevents upward and rapid flight, giving the caretakercontrolof the bird. Birds need to fly to strengthen their chest muscles...Both wings must have the same number of feathers clipped, and to the same length, for the bird to balance properly, maintain flight control, and prevent crashing and injury to the keel bone, beak, and wings. If the feathers are clipped too much, the bird will fall, possibly breaking his or her fragile bones...Frustrated by their inability to fly, clipped birds often develop psychological and behavioral problems, such as feather-plucking. Because clipping can cause irritation, birds will repeatedly pick at the feathers, which only causes more irritation and starts a vicious cycle. Let birds be birds...The only suitable home for a domestic bird is one in which this intelligent animal can live with wings and feathers intact and the freedom to fly."

MANY research studies have shown a correlation link between animal cruelty, with it being a precursor & indicator of community violence against people (including bullying, domestic violence, child abuse & elder abuse).

As a sign of the times, it's time for the UK public (plus animal lovers, pacifists & people of good will, all around the world) to speak up against an outdated 'superstition' & together demand a stop to cruelty, not only to animals, but also to stem the domino effect it has, on violence against people too.
